The Google Pack what should you Install and what not

You probably have see the adverts from Google to install their Google Pack.
If not, here is one..

There are several programs contained in the Google Pack, that may also differ from Country to Country, here is the USA Version.

But should you install all these applications? No, Definitely not..

Which Programs to Reconsider?

There are two programs that you might try out, but probably will de-install very soon if you have a computer that is low on CPU, memory and disk space..

Norton Security suite needs a lot of memory resources to run.
Google Desktop uses a log of space (up to 1 GB) to store his index file, and on top off that it runs constantly in the background slowing your PC down, just like the Norton Security Suite

Skype is great if your long distance or overseas friends also use it, otherwise promote the program to them.
Even if you can call to real phones for a small amount, make sure it works for you, because you need a fast internet connection to have the best performance.

If you run a local website test environment on you PC with Apache or IIS, be aware that Skype also use port 80 for his connentions, so you have to change the ports of your environment.

Spyware Doctor is worth a try, especially it you or your famliy surf to freeware and gaming sites a lot.
Another Freeware tool that does an even better job in cleaning and securing your PC is Hitmanpro that installs several freeware programs in one run.

The programs you really want

Firefox
is one of the best and safest browsers around, and you can add lots of Plugins for extran functionality.

Acrobat reader
A must for getting more information and reports like whitepapers, since more than 90% of these reports are in PDF format.

Picasa
Now this program alone is worth the installation of the pack...

Sorting, and indexing you pictures automaticly.

Previews and Slideshow, even creation of Webalbums to share your holiday pictures is a breeze.

yes, even basic editing of pictures, red-eye correction and brightness end/or contrast corrections can be made.

Download it, install it, let it run its index programs, and you might even find that long lost picture you know was still on the Hard Disk of your computer.
